I also do genealogy for friends and other family members.
A long time ago I started doing grave rubbings on stones that were hard to read. It is amazing what shows up that you cannot see with your eye or camera (even tracing with a finger!)I have done this for others that have requested it through genealogy friendships. I simply use interfacing of a certain weight and a thick color crayon. Unlike foil or paper, interfacing does not tear if you need to get really down in an engraving.
Now that I am retired I think I will enjoy volunteering my time to Find A Grave photo requests. Many times I have found a family member in the same cemetery.
I appreciate acknowledgements for my volunteer photos, and usually ignore those that do not appreciate my efforts. Mostly, I find very polite folks on Find A Grave.
