Brooks, William (Bill) Odell Sr. – age 76 of Knoxville passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a Carter High School Graduate of 1952 where he played football. Faithful member of Green Acres Baptist Church for 45 years where he was a Sunday School teacher and loved to sing in the choir. He loved football and working with youth sports. Member of Mascot Lodge #738 F&AM and OES #348. U.S. Navy veteran of Korea and member of D.A.V. Preceded in death by son, Bobby Brooks; parents, Rex and Minnie Brooks; brothers, Rex Jr. and Archie Brooks; and sisters, Margaret McCroskey and Betty Vaughn. Survived by wife of 54 years, Barbara Brooks; sons, William O. Brooks, Jr. and wife Debbie, and Benny Edward Brooks; daughter-in-law, Terri Brooks; granddaughter, Brittany Brooks; sister, Bonnie French; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Green Acres Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Oliver and Rev. Leonard Goins officiating and eulogy by Jody Haynes. The interment will follow at Eastview Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the East TN Veteran Honor Guard.
