CALVIN CLYDE ABEL
Calvin Clyde Abel, 77, of Carlisle, Iowa passed away from Lewy Body Dementia on Friday, November 6, 2009 at his home with his family by his side.
Calvin was born November 5, 1932 to William and Abbie Abel in Leon, Iowa. He graduated from Humeston High School in 1950. Calvin married Janet McBride on November 9, 1952. Calvin and Janet farmed for ten years before moving in Carlisle, Iowa in 1962. He retired from ABC Electric in 1992. He was a member of IBEW Local 347 for 23 years.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Lowe and Reva Richman; and brothers, Harold, Leonard, Dale and Jim.
Calvin's family was very special to him and he is very special to them. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Janet Abel; daughter, Susan Garmon of Carlisle; son, Ron Abel (Cindy) of Knoxville; and his four granddaughters, Megan Abel of Kirksville, MO, Stacie Garmon of Urbandale, Nicole Abel of Kirksville, MO, and Sharie Garmon of Urbandale. As well as three step-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10 at Petersons Funeral Home in Carlisle from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at Petersons Funeral Home followed by the burial service in Humeston, IA.
