Alice Odessa McBride, 74, of Jackson Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Hospice Haven, in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m Saturday, Nov. 20, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Boles Funeral Home, in Pinehurst.
She was born April 17, 1936, in Moore County, to the late Hubert Clarence and Lillie Alice Thomas Russell. She loved to sew and was a seamstress most of her life, working for a decorator for many years. She loved to dance and belonged to a line dance group called the West End Stompers as they performed all over the state. She also enjoyed NASCAR, attending as many races as she could. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing all she could to help them.
Mrs. McBride is survived by her sons, Phillip Warren McBride, Bert McBride and wife, Gail, both of Jackson Springs; daughters, Marla Jo Goodwin, of Southern Pines, Lesha Kelly, of Angier, and Renee Coleman and husband, Lance, of Cordova; brother Lewis Russell and wife, Mary, of Jackson Springs; sisters Jean Kirk, of Aberdeen, Edythe Smith and husband, Bobby, of Lilesville, and Sue Darby, of Pinebluff; grandchildren Krystle Roberts, Kevin Kelly, Andrea McBride, Warren McBride, Meredith McBride, Morgan McBride, Katelyn Kelly, Alex Goodwin, Johnathan Maness, Jonathan Brooks and Winston Coleman; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert L. McBride Jr. (1984), parents, brother Milton Russell, sisters Lynda Russell Garner and Juanita Russell Seawell, and grandson Cory Taylor Goodwin.
