NORWAY - Edson R. Staples,Jr., 88, of Norway passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
He was born in Lewiston on April 10, 1924 son of Edson R., Sr. and Pauline (Johnson) Staples.
He graduated from Oxford High School in the top 10 of a graduating class of 10.
Edson married Doris A. Keniston on December 31, 1943.
He served his country proudly in the United States Navy as an Electrician. While in the Navy he worked on the Dirigibles (aircrafts).
He worked for many years as an Electrician at the Sled Factory and A.C. Lawrence Leather.
He enjoyed gardening.
Edson is survived by his wife, Doris and son, Dennis Staples of Orrington, ME.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Dayle Richards.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, May 22nd from 1-2:00PM with a funeral service at 2:00PM at Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Rte 26, Oxford, ME.
Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Stoneham, ME.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edson's memory to the Maine Veteran's Home, 477 High St., So. Paris, ME 04281.
