CARTER LEE YATES, 52 years of age of Maxie, VA passed away Friday, February 20, 2004 at his home. Born in Buchanan County January 27, 1952 he was the son of Emory Yates and Imal Yates Yates of Maxie, VA. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, he loved to fish, deer hunt and spend time with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Josh and Emaline Yates and Bart and Josie Yates.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters: Allene Harrison of Maxie, VA, Lenetta Lester of Vansant, VA; two brothers: Benny Lynn Yates and wife Ola of Cumberland, KY, Randy Emory Yates and wife Marsha of Maxie, VA; six nephews, two nieces and three great-nephews. He will be mourned by a special friend: Cecil Rice of Maxie, VA.
Funeral services for Carter Lee Yates will be held Monday, February 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Harman, VA with Elders Andy Deel and Jimmy Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Yates Cemetery on Greenbrier, Vansant, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be Family and Friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Southwest Dialysis Unit, Mercy Ambulance Service and Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
