Col. John D. Bradley, Jr., Ret., passed away Friday afternoon in a Brunswick Hospital. Col. Bradley, a retired Army Armoured Officer, was born September 9, 1914 in Glennville, GA to John Daniel and Winnie Williams Bradley. A graduate of The University of Georgia, was a former Post Commander of Fort Stewart and was in seven campaigns in World War II. (Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes "Battle of Bulge", Central Europe and Rhineland) his Military decorations included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, French Croix de Guerre, Oak Leaf Cluster Bronze Star, Oak Leaf Cluster Legion of Merit, WWII Victory Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Occupation Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was the general manager of the Collins Glennville Railroad. Col. Bradley served as a member of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia, as a represenative and was one of the founders of The Coastal Bank. He was the oldest member of the Glennville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John D. Bradley III. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7th at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel of Cobb Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Brewton Cemetery in Hagan with Full Military Honors. Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home of Reidsville is in charge of the arrangements.
