Melvin Ray Hines, 58, of Ash, NC went to be with his precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 5, 2012. He was born February 6, 1954 in Brunswick County, to the late Harry and Sybil Tripp Hines.
He was a veteran of the US Army and the North Carolina National Guard. Ray was employed by the City of N. Myrtle Beach for more than twenty-seven years. He was a gardener and an avid hunter.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Cheryl, for nine beautiful years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Renee Hernandez and husband Marco of Windsor, NC, Amy Wilkins of Heathsville, VA and Frances Gieseke of Philadelphia, PA; sons, Daniel Hines of Windsor, NC, Robert Donitzen of Myrtle Beach, SC and Ryan Donitzen of Wilmington, NC; brothers, Buddy Hines of Longwood and Stephen and Lonnie Hines, both of Ash; sister, Sharon Lucas of Ash; grandchildren, Victoria, Gabby, Charlie, Daniel, Maddison, Izack, Samantha, and Matthew; great grandchild, Abby; and dear sister in Christ, Christine Flowers, of Longwood. We were blessed to have him in our lives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 10, from Little River Community Church, Little River, SC where he was a member, by The Rev. Wayne Ellis. Burial will be in Smith Family Cemetery, Ash, NC.
