ISAAC'S DEATH
Lt. Jones and part of CO H (91st Ill) took possession of the courthouse & some other buildings in Elizabethtown. Lt. Jones & Isaac Henson were in the second story of the courthouse. Henson remarked, "If I am killed, just throw me down the stairs out of the way." Those were the last words for him, for at the instant a shell from the enemy's battery came into the room, bursting as it struck Henson, entirely severing his head from his body. At about the same moment a volley of Minnie balls came into the room, one striking Sergeant William F. Wood, causing a death wound, and another hit John W. Scott in the back. John died from wounds on Jan. 10th 1863. (A History of the 91st Ill by James M. Beverly. Pg 22) This historical segment presented by Elvin Smith Jr.
