World War I Canadian Military Figure. Born in Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada, he served as a Private in the 28th Battalion, 6th Canadian Infantry. In actions at Mons, Belgium, about 3 minutes before the signing of the Armistance, he was killed by a German sniper. Thus, he was the last Canadian solider to die in World War I. On November 11, 1968, 50 years after his death, a memorial plaque was erected by the Canadian Veterans Society and placed in his honor on the house nearby in Mons, Belgium, where he died.
