It is our deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, son, brother and uncle, BENNY D. ABALOS, JR., on Friday, September 7, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy battle with Diabetes and Renal Disease. He was born July 21, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas to Benny T. and Celia Delgado Abalos.
Benny was a graduate of Deming High School, Class of 1976; He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Benny also attended Western New Mexico University and Arizona State University. Before Benny became ill with complications from the Diabetes disease, he was a machinist for Scott Motors in Alamogordo.
Survivors include two daughters, Maria Lorraine and Nancy Hilaria Abalos both of Las Cruces; his parents, Benny T. and Celia D. Abalos also of Las Cruces; one brother, Rito Abalos and wife, Lupe of Phoenix, Arizona. Other survivors include two nieces, Christina Abalos and Salina Muñoz both also of Las Cruces; two great nieces, Angelica and Alexandra Muñoz; one great nephew, Robert Muñoz, Jr. all of Deming, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Benny's request, cremation has taken place and there will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road with Pastor Ty Loyd of Church Triumphant presiding. Veteran Services will be accorded by the Marine Corp League, El Perro Diablo Detachment. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Ft. Bliss, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 525 San Pedro NE, Suite 101, Albuquerque, NM 87108 The Abalos Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels to direct the memorial service.
