Luther Melvin Flewellen, age 78, a resident of Ola, AR died Monday, April 20, 1998 at St. Vincent's Infirmary at Little Rock, AR. He was born on December 15, 1919 at Houston, AR to Ollie and Allie Tinsley Flewellen. He married Ponnie Louise on April 11, 1978 at Ola. He retired as Park Manager with Army Corps of Engineer. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII, a member of the Plainview VFW, American Legion, Deacon and member of the Ola Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Homer Flewellen; a sister, Pauline Flewellen.

He is survived by his wife, Ponnie Louise Flewellen of Ola, AR; one brother, James B. Flewellen of Hollis, AR; two sisters, Earline Coleman of Modesto, CA and Mildred Davis of Ola, AR; 12 nephews and seven nieces; three step sons and daughter-in-law, David Earl Bewley of Danville, AR, Randy and Teresa Bewley of Casa, AR; James Bewley of Little Rock, AR; three grandchildren, Travis Bewley, Clay Bewley and Linsey Kay Bewley.

Funeral service was held April 23, 1998 at the Ola Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Thomas Morris and assisted by Rev. Denver Robinson and Rev. Royal Reed. Burial was in the Carter Cemetery at Plainview, AR. Memorials may be made to the Ola Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund. Pallbearers were Kenneth Pyburn, Kenneth Ivie, Lawrence Harrington, Marvin Mashburn, Johnny Barnes and Dimspey Bly. Honorary were Dr. J. O. Pennington and Bill Friend.
