Mamie was married to Roy Preston McCormac, who died in San Antonio TX in 1951. They married in 1920 in Georgia. She and Roy did not have any children. Mamie was the eldest of 13 children (1 died as an infant). She was born in Iron City GA, which at the time of her birth was in Decatur Co. In 1922, Seminole Co. was split off from Decatur Co. She moved to Jacksonville between 1910 and 1920 and lived there the rest of her life. She became the family matriarch after her parents' death (father Hiram Hurst in 1924, mother Ada Ann Davis Hurst in 1926). She and her sister Lucy took great care in looking after various siblings and nieces and nephews as they experienced turbulence in their lives.
