William Lindsay "Bill" Harnsberger Jr., 70 of Patrick Springs, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012.

He was born in Henry County on Sept. 15, 1942, to William Lindsay Harnsberger Sr. and Ruth Smoot Harnsberger, both deceased.

Harnsberger served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and had retired from the United States Postal Service with 20 years of service.

He was a member of Stuart United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Ayers Harnsberger of the home; one daughter, Sara Thompson of Spencer; one son, Matthew Harnsberger of Advance, N.C.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Carroll Harnsberger of Stuart.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at 2 p.m. at Patrick Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Fred Gilley officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the home in Patrick Springs, and following the graveside service on Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the Patrick County 4-H Shooting Club, c/o Dale Owens, P.O. Box 128, Stuart, Va. 24171.

Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
