Dr. Watford graduated from Camden High School in 1969, was a member of Citadel's 1973 graduating class, received his Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest and a doctoral degree in Theology from Drew University in 1988. He went on to serve the community for more than thirty years as a Baptist minister, more recently working with Woodman of the World and he was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Horry County. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling a good joke. Most of all he enjoyed serving the Lord.
Survivors include his parents of Camden, SC; his wife of thirty-nine years, Barbara Jeffcoat Watford, two daughters, Danielle Watford and fiancé Buddy McDowell and Christy Watford-Suggs and husband, Kevin all of Loris, SC; one son, Stan Watford, Jr. and wife, Ashley of Loris, SC; three grandchildren, Grace Suggs and Alyssa and Brayden Watford; one brother, Dr. C. Bruce Watford and wife, Sheryl of Elgin, SC; two sisters, Sheryl Lynn Watford and Marcia White of Fayetteville, GA and Lisa Pottieger and husband, David of Camden, SC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Conrad Cooper of Lexington, SC; two nieces, one nephew, three great-nephews and two great-nieces.
