Lonnie A. Christopher, 69, of Kokomo, passed away at 3:42 AM, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in Waterford Place Health Campus. Born May 6, 1943 in Richmond, KY, he is the son of the late William Christopher and Fannie Mae (Foster) Christopher. On December 21, 1963 in Kokomo, he married Willadean Brown, and she survives. He was employed with Chrysler Corp for 29 years, retiring in 2004.He had attended First General Baptist Church, was a member of U.A.W. Local #685. He enjoyed country music; playing the guitar and singing with the pickers and grinners, and was a legend to all.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Willadean "Dean" Christopher of Kokomo; one daughter Penny R. (James) Hill of Kokomo; three brothers Charley (Thelma) Christopher of KY, Buck Christopher and Roger (Austrene) Christopher, both of Kokomo; one sister Lillie (Richard) Jackson of TN; one grandchild Erica Ashley Trine of Arcadia; also several nieces and nephews including one special niece Jill Shoemaker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Mary Bruno, Linda Ashcraft, Elizabeth Lewis, and Fern Snow; one grandson Bryan K. Trine.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Brad Swain will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-6 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Arcadia Children's Home, with envelopes available at the mortuary.
