Homer William "Runt" Marshall, 71, Gadsden, died Friday, September 13, 1996.

Runt was a native and lifelong resident of Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was retired from Republic Steel in 1979. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Marshall; daughters, Teresa (Larry) Walker, Paula (Darryl) Johnston, and Vanessa Marshall; grandchildren, Donna Gilpin. Brent Walker, Sabrina (Carl) Sharitt, Melissa Walker, Craig Walker, Renee Clements and Jessica Moman; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Allison Gilpin; Sisters-in-laws, Sandra (Larry) Turner, Alene Chapman, and Ruth, Beth and Barbara Marshall, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be his neighbors and friends on Lookout St., Dr. K.J. Shah, Dr. D. Parmar, employees of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Hospice and ninth and seventh floors, employees or Republic Steel and employees of Tyson Foods.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 this evening. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Crestwood Chapel. The Rev. Buster Latimer will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
