On 2 December 1969, Private First Class Robert Le Roy Dalton was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in Phuoc Long Province, South Vietnam.
On that day, PFC Dalton was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
