He was born in Cleveland and graduated from Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School in 1925 and Ohio State University in 1930. An Army veteran, he was employed as an IRS agent in the Cleveland area and later continued his career as controller and treasurer of the Cleveland Punch and Shears Corp, where he eventually sat on the board of directors. A Henderson County resident for more 38 years, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son, Gene MaGruder, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Chapel of the Angels. Father John Aurilia will officiate.
