Dixie Charleen Long, 69, Greentown, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at her residence. She was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Marion, the daughter of Ira and Naomi (Monroe) Retz. On March 20, 1992, in Kokomo, she married Robert L. Long, and he survives.

Dixie was employed at Syndicate Sales for 44 years and still was working before her passing. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting and collecting dolls, glass and flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; children Tammy (Jimmy) Bowman, Greentown, and Connie Bitzell, Greentown; stepchildren Debbie (Allen) Miller, Melborne, Ohio, and Vicky (Robert) Miller, Peru; eight grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; and one brother, John (Janice) Retz, WIndfall.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Michael Goodspeed officiating. Burial will follow at Converse Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
