Rosannah's first husband was Hugh Wallin. They married in Madison County Oct. 24, 1853. Stephen Wallin performed the ceremony, witness was John Roberts and Bondsman Russell Franklin, Rosannah's brother. Hugh died during the Civil War. Rosannah married James Wesley Bullman in 1866 and was divorced from him by the time the 1880 census was taken. Her tombstone indicates that she was the mother of ten children. I have 11 children in my family tree, but the 1900 census states she had 12 children, with 9 still living in 1900. Three of her children's death certificates list her surname as "Shelton", but if that was from a later marriage, the spouse is unknown. The best explanation is that her father, William Franklin, was also known in the community as "Duck Shelton". Her other children, besides the ones with links provided, were: Mitchell Alexander Wallin (1853-unk), Thomas Jefferson Wallin (1857-1948), Melvina Bullman Holland (1867-unk), Christopher Columbus Bullman (1868-1935), Mary Bullman Sands (1870-1949), Scott Bullman (1877-1953) and Martha Bullman. Richmond Wallin kindly provided access to his photo of Rosannah. DNA FINDINGS: "Great Narrative : DNA test of her brother Russell Hugh Franklin's Grt Grt Grt Grandson matches Shelton DNA marker to marker of descendants of Roderick Shelton---- William Duckworth Franklin " Duck Shelton " appears to be the son of Roderick." Thanks to contributor Bill Foster for providing this DNA information.
