Edgewood -- Funeral services for Bernard H. Ackman, 89, were held here Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Mr. Ackman died at his home here Tuesday following a several months' illness.
He was born Nov. 8, 1851, in Germany and came to America when a youth. He was married Dec. 2, 1880, in New York City to Wilhelmina Muehlkamp and some years later came to Delaware County, where they farmed until 1920 when they retired and moved to Edgewood. Mrs. Ackman died in 1935.
Mr. Ackman was an active worker in the Methodist Church and at various times held the office of steward, trustee, and Sunday School superintendent.
Surviving are 10 children: the Rev. J.B. Ackman of Minneapolis, William, Mrs. Martha Kuhlman, Mrs. Ella Tilp, Mrs. Laura Funk, and Mrs. Amanda Faust, all of Edgewood; E.A. Ackman of Arlington, H.H. Ackman of Strawberry Point, Paul of Fulda, Minn., and O.C. Ackman of Ieland; one brother Will, of Raeville, Neb.; and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Schechtman of Greeley.
