Arthur's brothers Victor, Cyril, Kenneth, Clifford and Leopold were all actors, while brother Andrew directed films. Arthur and Victor appeared together in vaudeville impersonating famous statues. With the act, they toured the U.S., Australia, New South Wales and Fiji. In 1931, Arthur was divorced in Reno from his wife Emily - he claimed his wife had an uncontrollable temper and was extremely cruel. In October of 1937 Arthur's wife, actress Marion Lord (Abbey of the Psalms foyer), filed a suit against him because he was behind on two $50 per month alimony payments. Lord also filed suit against McLaglen's current wife for 'love theft.' At the time of the suit, he was remarried to Marie Mitchell Shipley, a teacher of the blind. 1939 again found McLaglen making the newspapers when he and his brother Victor were sued by trumpet player Richard Candreva for severely beating him, breaking his nose, loosening his teeth and causing several other injuries. Actor in 13 films.
