Freddie Mitchell was the ninth of fourteen children born to Jack Mitchell and Velma Gatlin Mitchell.

Freddie married Avis Taylor on July 5, 1953 and together they raised six children in Fayetteville, TN: Teresa Honey, Brenda Millican (died in Nov 1978), Mike, Mark, Marty, and Myron.

Freddie was a brother to my dad, Kenneth Yancy Newman Mitchell.
