Joyce Bornemann, 96, of Granger, IN died Tuesday, August 21 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka following a brief illness. Mrs. Bornemann was born August 26, 1915 in Chicago, IL to the late Mable (Cuthbert) and Lynn Perkins and had lived in the South Bend area most of her life.

On May 31, 1944 in South Bend she married M. Gerhard Bornemann who preceded her in death March 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Whitmore and brother, Charles Perkins.

She is survived by three half daughters, Irene Nankey of Charlotte, NC, Martha Page (Robert) of Granger, and Mary Dull (Richard) of Milford, IN; one son, Phillip Bornemann (Kathy) of Ft. Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including Charles Perkins (Patsy) of Kalamazoo, MI. Dennis Perkins of Austin TX. & Kathy Perkins.

Joyce and her husband Gerhard were founding members of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granger and she remained very active in the life of the church until her death. She will greatly missed by her many friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25th in Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Mischke officiating. Burial will take place on Monday in Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN. The family will receive friends today in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. from 4 until 6 p.m. and on Saturday in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16791 Cleveland Rd., Granger, IN, 46530.
