John E. McClafferty, 80, of 431 Arch St., New Bethlehem, died yesterday at Warren State Hospital, Warren. Born April 26, 1890 in Croylesville, the son of William and Anna Lowers McClafferty, he was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church of New Bethlehem. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Honadle McClafferty, whom he married in 1916; six daughters; Mrs. Richard (Helen) McCool, Vanport; Mrs. John (Ruth) Sloan and Mrs. Craver (Louise) Gill, both of New Bethlehem; Mrs. Gerald (Rita) Shaffer, Oak Ridge; Mrs. Glenn (Delores) Minich, Home; and Mrs. Frances Farster, Oil City; a son Bernard J., Monaca; a sister, Mrs. Clara Heasley, Herman; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A son William John, died in 1952. McCLAFFERTY - Friends of John E. McClafferty, who died Jan. 25, 1971, will be received after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert F. Mateer Funeral Home, New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Casimir Bogniak, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements by Mateer.
