BARNSTABLE - Florence (Seaberg) Lovejoy, 87, a resident of Barnstable, died Saturday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late William P. Lovejoy.
Mrs. Lovejoy was born, raised and educated in Brockton, where she graduated from high school and attended business school.
She moved to Barnstable, where she lived for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Lovejoy worked at the Barnstable Post Office and for the Barnstable Court House, retiring in the late 1960s.
She was an avid gardener and a member of the Quilters Club. She was active in the Unitarian Church of Barnstable and was a former member of its choir.
A gracious hostess, she enjoyed serving Swedish food to family and friends.
Survivors include two stepsons, eight stepgrandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the stepmother of the late W. Alan Lovejoy.
A graveside service will be held at noon tomorrow at Lothrop Hill Cemetery, Barnstable, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable, Route 6A, Barnstable.
Visiting hours are 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis.
Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 434 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660; or to Barnstable Fire & Rescue, Main Street, Barnstable, MA 02630.

Florence's father was born Adolf Ferdinand Sjöberg Mar 13, 1873, in Angered, Västra Götaland, Sweden. (Sjö is the Swedish word for sea.) His parents were Johannes Pålman Sjöberg, a boatsman, and Charlotta Andreasson. Adolf emigrated to America in 1893 and married Josephine Benson in Brockton, MA, on Nov 14, 1903. Josephine was born Josefina Bengtsson May 30, 1877, in Överluleå, Norbotten, Sweden. Her parents were Anders Bengtsson and Fredrika Gustafsson Sundström. Josephine emigrated to America in 1894.
