Margaret was born in Csatád, Torontal, Hungary which, since 1917, has been part of Timis county, Romania and in 1926, was renamed Lenauheim.
She was brought to the United States arriving at Ellis Island on October 18, 1909 with her parents, Georg and Maria, and two younger siblings, Mariska and Georg Jr. The family traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to join up with George's older brother, Peter, who had been in the U. S. since 1903.
