Born June 30, 1924, in Clarion, he was the son of the late George and Edna Canan Sloat.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was retired from Cooper Energy of Grove City where he was a core maker.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son, James Sloat of Knox; a daughter, Cheryl (Craig) Delo of Clintonville; a sister, Betty Sloat of Sligo; and eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Norman C. Sloat; a daughter, Nancy E. Harless; and three brothers, two half- brothers, six sisters and a half-sister.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Goble Funeral Home & Crematory in Clarion. The Rev. Rick Osberg of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
