He went by Blain(e) Son of Alexander McGinness and Julia Overholtz (s) McGinness
14th child of 16. His father being from County Down Ireland.
His mother had children over a 34 year span, the last two children died before the age of 3, Alvah known as "Blaine" was the youngest living child.
Husband to Sarah Lee Reatha Porter who died in young adulthood.No children by his first wife. Second marriage-Husband to Viola Porter,sister to Sarah Reatha Porter, father of several children. Edward (stepson), Myrtle, Aletha, Calvin and Lyle (Stover) Alvah died of pneumonia at the age of 58 leaving behind his wife and young children. Alvah worked for the railroad for many years, the last years of his life he was a painter.
