Helen Irene "Granny" Head went home to be with Jesus Sunday, August 12, 2012. Mrs. Head attended Harmony Chapel Independent Freewill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Rev. Amis Head; mother, Bertha Potter; grandson, Roger Birchfield; brothers, Cara, John, Davis, Leonard, and Sanford Potter; sister, Genevia Russell; son-in-law, Lester Birchfield. Left behind to mourn her passing are sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kerri Head and Charles and Brenda Head; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby Hanson of Puyallap, Wash., Norma and Lee Fuller of Maryville, Helen Birchfield of Covington, Ga., and Billie and Carlos Hembree Jr. of Maryville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins; special friends, Melinda Wilburn, Ruby Gay, Bud and Claudette Dover, the Homer Burns Family; and a host of other loved friends. Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Smith West Chapel with Rev. Robert Burns officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012. at Grandview Cemetery.
