Murrell C. 'Barney' Kettelkamp, 79, of Fort Myers, formerly of Peoria, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2001. He was born on July 27, 1921 to Samuel and Emma (Best) Kettelkamp in Nokomis, IL. Barney served in the U.S. Army in Italy during WWII. He was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria and worked for The Central Illinois Light Company for 28 years retiring in 1983. He married Donna L. (Woertz) on June 30, 1951, they have wintered in the area since 1988.

Mr. Kettelkamp is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Donna; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lesslie Kettelkamp of Plant City; his daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann and Al Ornelas of Pompano Beach, a granddaughter Sarah Marie Kettelkamp of Plant City; two sisters, Bernice Kettelkamp; his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Russell Cook both of Wheaton, IL, several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Lee County or EMS of Lee County.
