Author. She made her debut 1954, at the age of 18, with the celebrated novel "Bonjour Tristesse," a portrayal of a sophisticated, disillusioned French society. She wrote more than 40 books, including "A Certain Smile," "Those Without Shadow" and "Painting In Blood." Her plays were recognized as well, for instance "Un piano dans l´herb" and "Zaphorie." In 1984 she released her autobiography "Avec mon meilluer souvenir" and in 1993 her complete works were published.
