Matthew Wade Thompson, 37, of Willard, KY., passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012, at his residence following a sudden illness.

He was born January 16, 1975, at Ashland, KY., a son of Bill and Ruth Perry Thompson of Catlettsburg, KY.

He was a Heavy Machine Operator with X Energy.

In addition to his parents, his survivors include, his wife of 12 years, Lisa Church Thompson of Willard, one son, Devin Caldwell at home, one daughter, Laney Thompson at home, one sister, Billie Savage of Catlettsburg, KY., and one brother, Mike Thompson of St. Albans, WV.

Matthew also left behind many friends and other family who loved him very much. Matt loved to play his guitar and sing to make everyone around him happy. He was the best friend anyone could ask for and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Randy Tate, officiating. Burial will be in the Church Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
