Garth E. Wheaton, 50, of 1526 Wilson Ave., Port Washington, died Sunday at St. Michael's Hospital, Milwaukee, after suffering an apparent heart attack.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1925 in Richland Center, the son of Clyde and Mamie Bar-tels Wheaton. On Jan. 2 1955 he married Norma Brooks at Baraboo. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Wheaton was employed as a machinist at Evinrude Motors for 20 years and was a member of United Steel Workers of America 1302. The couple moved to Port Washington in 1965 from Nashotah.

Survivors are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Linda) O'Dell of Forestville, Md., Barbara, Debra and Kathy, all at home; seven sons, Dennis of Forestville, Md., Daniel of Baltimore, Md., Robert of Saukville, David, stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Santa Anna, Calif., and William, Thomas and Joel, all at home; six grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph of Milwaukee and James of Danville, Ind.; and three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Tomlinson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Virgil Pierick of Highland, and Mrs. Wilford Kepler of New Berlin.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday'at the Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington. The Rev. Philip Schowalter will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
