Rosalia Spalding and William Head were married on 2/16/1835 by Father Martin John Spalding, later Bishop of Baltimore. They had 14 children and most are buried at the Abbey of Gethsemane. Rosalie had 2 brothers who fought on the Civil War, one for the Union and one for the Confederacy. Major William L Spalding of the CSA was killed at Fort Donelson Tenn in 1862. He is buried at St Rose Cemetery in Springfield Ky. William and Rosalia lived in a poplar log house in Gethesamane. The location is present day Dee Head Road. It burnt down in 1964. It is said the logs burnt for a week. Rosalia Is the daughter of Peter Spalding and Sarah Walker Spalding
