WILLIAM FRED BECKER
William F. Becker died at his home on R. 5, Thursday, Oct. 18, 1923, aged 41 years, 8 months and 20 days. Mr. Becker was taken seriously ill about six weeks ago and, although given the best of care, he gradually grew weaker until the end came.
The decedent was born Jan. 29, 1882, and on April 3, 1898, he was confirmed in the St. John's chruch of Oakland. Nov. 10, 1909, he married Miss Elsie K. Langholff and this union was blessed with two children, Norma, 12; and Howard 6.
Mr. Becker was a man well liked by everyone. He was deeply interested in his profession, that of farming, and had gained a liberal measure of success in his life work.
The community mourns with the bereaved family the death of this good man and there is little that can be said in times like this to alleviate the sorrow and emptiness that comes to the stricken home.
Besides his widow and children he leaves his aged mother, Mrs. F. W. Becker, Adams St., two sisters, Mrs. Emil Klement and Mrs. Sam Klement, and one brother Arthur Becker, all of this vicinity.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the St. John's church, Oakland, of which congregation deceased was a member, in charge of Rev. Geo. Recht and Rev. R. W. Buelow. The church was not large enough to hold those who gathered to pay their last respects to their neighbor and friend. The floral tributes were beautiful and many, showing the high esteem in which Mr. Becker was held. Interment was in Jefferson cemetery.
