Joe H. Dave Settles, 43, of West Lafayette, died at 4:50 PM Tuesday, May 19, 1992, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. Born on Dec. 18, 1948, in Portland, TN, he spent most of his life in Lafayette. His marriage was to Deborah L. Kerfoot, in Lafayette, on Dec. 16, 1989; she survives.
Mr. Settles owned and operated Settles Tree Service for the past year. He previously worked for the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Bonne Terre, MO.
Also surviving are three sons, Davie Joe Settles of West Carrollton, OH, Jeff Settles and Dustin Settles, both of Lafayette; two stepsons, Adam Dever and Danny Dever, both of Lafayette; three brothers, the Rev. Joe Settles of Flat River, MO, James Settles of Dalton, GA, and Howard Settles of Irvington, TX; four sisters, Diane Alexander of Lafayette, Beverly Thomure of Flat Fiver, MO, Betty Parker of Crawfordsville, and Kay Brinson of Zephryhills, FL; eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
