On 25 September 1966, 1LT William Ronald Beasley was serving as a rotary wing aviation unit commander with 281st Assault Helicopter Company, 10th Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade in South Vietnam.

On that day, 1LT Beasley was killed when his helicopter crashed. His body was recovered.
