Roy Lee Burgess, 72, of Six Mile, died Sunday, August 22 in Boone Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born September 28, 1931, a son of the late Henan and Nora Burgess of Ottawa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Allie Burgess.
He was a member of Laurel City Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving: Ray Burgess and his wife, Brookie of Six Mile, with whom he made his home; brothers, Jack and Bob Burgess both of Elyria, Ohio; nephews, Phillip, Johnny, Ricky, Sean, Pattrick, Mark, Ricky Allen Jr., Chris, Caleb and Cody Burgess; nieces, Melissa, Angela, Rita and Cheryl Burgess; and a host of friends.
Service will be Thursday, August 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Don Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Marcum Adkins Cemetery, Greenview.
