        Rites Are Today For Dr. Garrett

Final rites for Dr. Thomas F. Garrett, 73, of Sprague, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Beckley Presbyterian Church with Dr. James A. Witherspoon in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

He died at his home at 3 p.m. Sunday of a heart attack suffered after returning home from driving a daughter to the Beckley bus terminal as she was returning to her home in Charleston.

Born in King and Queen County, Va., Nov. 14, 1890, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Catherine Bland Garrett.

He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1914 and had been a physician for the New River Co. since 1917.

Dr. Garrett was a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church, Beckley Masonic Lodge 95, AF and AM, Beni Kedem Temple Lodge 1452, the Raleigh County Medical Society, West Virginia State Medical Assn., and the American Medical Assn.

Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. W. F. Moore, Mrs. C. W. Harris and Mrs. Ruth Walden, all of Saluda, and Mrs. H. R. Dudley of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. George (Betty) McNew of Charleston and Marie Garrett of Huntington, and three grandchildren.

His wife, Mrs. Beulah Wilson Garrett, preceded him in death on November 2, 1956.

The body will remain at the Keyser-Bryant Funeral Home until one hour prior to services at which time it will be removed to the church.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Beckley Masonic Lodge.

Members of the Raleigh County Medical Society will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Active pallbearers will be Dr. William Fred Richmond, Dr. J. E. McKenzie, C. Beirne Canterbury, Donald W. Honaker, Wade S. Brubeck and Dr. Ross P. Daniel.
