Edmund was the infant son of Colonel Edmund Clarence Abbott and Cora X. Young. Edmund Jr. was their 2nd child and 1st son. Edmund Sr. was a lawyer in Red River, New Mexico and later a New Mexico District Court Judge, 1st District (Santa Fe).
