HOPE MILLS - Retired U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Roberto Amil Rodriguez Jr., 53, of Hope Mills, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012. He was born July 8, 1958, in New York City's Bellevue Hospital to Sara Rodriguez Gonzalez and Roberto A. Rodriguez Sr. He was the recipient of three Meritorious Service Medals; three ARComs; six ACM; seven Good Conduct Medals; National Defense Medal; three NCO Professional Development Ribbons; Army Service Medal; three Overseas Service Medals; and SR Aircraft Crewman Badge. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Conchita Rodriguez; son, Roberto Amil Rodriguez III and wife Mariah; daughters, Ashlee Nicole, Angelica Marie, Alexis Janelle and Aleah Reon; parents, Roberto A. Rodriguez Sr., Sara Rodriguez Gonzalez and husband Moises Gonzalez; sisters, Eilene Kondysar, Doris Vilma Rodriguez Quiles and Tania Rodriguez Quiles; brothers, Francisco and wife Anna, Fernando and wife IIeana, and Angel "Manny" Pino and wife Laura; cousins, Lisa Matos and Heriberto Gonzalez; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Harris; brothers-in-law, Steven Perry and wife June, Philemon Perry; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Chapman and Kelly Perry; godson, John Paul Rodriguez; goddaughter, Jalosa James; and a whole host of extended family, cousins, nieces, nephews coworkers and dear friends that feel his loss as deeply as we do: Job and Iris James and family, and Patrina Morales and family. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, the late Alvin Perry; and friend, the late Rafael Luis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Friday, July 13, 2012, at Spring Lake First Baptist Church in Spring Lake.
