Susie Hitson Berrong , age 96, of Maryville, died, at 9:25 p.m., April 7, 2000, at Fairpark Nursing Home. Member of Everett Hills Baptist Church where she served as the Sunshine Class Sunday school teacher. Preceded in death by husband, E. King Berrong Sr.; sister, Willie Berrong ; brothers, M.C., Isaac and Calvin Hitson. Grandson, Eddie Berrong and special brother-in-law, Bill Berrong .
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, King Jr. and Jean Berrong of Sweetwater, Leon and Lynn Berrong , and Bobby and Shirley Berrong both of Maryville. Eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Sister, Reba Pearson of Maryville; special nieces, Geneva Webb, Betty Everett; special nephew, Charles "Bunny" Berrong ; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Bill Pearson, Dr. Alan Raines and Dr. John Franklin officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery for graveside service and interment. Memorial donations may be made to Everett Hills Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
