A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, in Hillside Chapel for Elva Fern Wenzel, who died Sept. 18 at age 84.

Mrs. Wenzel was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Wagner, S.D. Her maiden name was Whetham. She moved to Lebanon in 1937 and had lived since 1958 in Oregon City, where she was a bartender for various taverns until her retirement from Chuck's Tavern at age 75.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Stephens of Phoenix, Ariz., and Gale Wenzel of Gladstone; daugther, Yvonne Dorgan of Gladstone; brothers, Francis Whetham of Eugene and Kenneth Whetham of Carlsbad, N.M.; sister, Lucille Buss of Mishawaka, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City. The family suggests remembrances to Oregon City Meals on Wheels.
