He was a retired U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Wickliffe Masonic Lodge #625, a member of the Rizpah Shrine of Madisonville, KY, a member of the York Rite of Paducah, and he was a member of the Wickliffe Eagles. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his son, Ronnie Dixon, Jr. and wife Deneen of Barlow; granddaughter, Desiree Dixon of Arlington; mother, Catherine Pool Dixon of Gage; sisters, Lorita Pickett and husband Tom of Tamms, IL, Kaye Talley and husband Stan of Gage; brother, William Dixon, Jr., and wife Christy of Paducah; stepgrandson, D.J. Woodford and wife Mindy; stepgranddaughter, Kimberly Woodford and fiancé Adnan Veljacic of Paducah; stepgreat-grandson, Kejlab "Tree Frog" Veljacic, Jr. of Paducah, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William B. Dixon, Sr.; grandparents, King and Bernetta Pool and Charles and Mary Dixon.
Funeral services for Ronnie Lee Dixon, Sr., will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with Rev. Larry Fraser officiating.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be given at 7:00 p.m.
