He was an Army veteran, having served in the infantry during World War II. He was the widower of Dorothy Grace Thompson Mock.

Mock of Alamosa, Colo., Franklin Elliott Mock of Jonesville, La., Clinton Tracy Mock of Sylvania, Randall Mock of Statesboro and Samuel Mock of Macon; four grandchildren; 10 nephews; six nieces and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
