Rev. Roger Kiah Edwards, 64, of Edwards St., Asheville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012.
A native of Madison Co., he was a son of the late Kiah and Frankie English Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Caroll Alexander Sales, and by a grandson, Triston Kiah Edwards.
Mr. Edwards lived most of his life in Buncombe Co. He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, and retired from Square D after 30 years. He was a pastor and Sunday school teacher at various churches. He was a loving person who had a helpful spirit.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Sales Edwards; daughter, Jessica Grindstaff; sons, Jeff Edwards, Joey Camby and wife, Yane, Jeremy Edwards, and Shane Camby and wife, Terri; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Betty Sales; 4 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Rd. The Revs. Keith Dockins, Jimmy Sales, Willie Warren, and Malcolm McCarson will officiate. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
