Funeral services will be held 11:00, Thursday, June 28, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Millers Creek with the Rev. Keith Lyon officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday night.
Mr. Absher was born in Wilkes County, December 11, 1926, to Alfred Montgomery and Mary Sue Combs Absher. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Absher served in the US Army during World War II. He was a former member of the North Wilkesboro Fire Department. Mr. Absher worked for The Record after his retirement from Gardner Mirror.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Absher was preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother.
Mr. Absher is survived by his wife, Imogene Porter Absher of the home; four sons, Randy Absher of Kernersville, Reggie Absher and wife, Betty of North Wilkesboro, Tim Absher and wife, Vikki of Roaring River, Danny Absher of Millers Creek.
