Helen D. Derr, 101, formerly of Washington Ave., Bethlehem, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at Blough Healthcare Center, Bethlehem. She is the wife of Harold E. Derr. Born in Bethlehem on August 28, 1910 to the late William and Stephanie (Pisczatoski) Modzeleski. She was a mother and homemaker the majority of her life; before her marriage, she was a stenographer for 9 years at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors: In addition to loving husband of 76 years; daughters, JoAnne M. Wert, of Hellertown, Marie C., wife of R. Alan Lauer, of Livermore, CA, Carole J. Smolinski, of Reisterstown, MD; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter, Jeanne F. Kuschak (died 1/2/1987); sisters, Agnes D. Jamiolkowski and Jean E. Vasko.
Services: Family and friends are invited to call 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown followed by the service at 10 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
